The Earnings Per Share (“EPS”) metric is one of the most important variables in determining a share’s price. It is a major component used to calculate the Price-To-Earnings (“P/E”) valuation ratio, where the E in P/E refers to EPS. EPS is widely used as a way to track a company’s performance. The speaker will discuss common mistakes in the presentation and disclosure of EPS, and the impact of cross-holding in the calculation of EPS.

Speaker’s Bio
Dr P M Kam, BBS is a certified public accountant. He was formerly the group financial controller of Jardine Matheson and the CEO of the Financial Reporting Council. Dr Kam was a member of the IFRS Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board from 2005 to 2011. He was also the president of the then Hong Kong Society of Accountants (now renamed HKICPA) in 1999 and 2000. He is an Advisor and a member of the Professional Development Committee of HKBAA.
