Joint Webinar on “Further Reform of the Accounting Profession”

Further reform of the accounting profession is expected to commence in the 4th quarter of this year. Upon commencement, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) will become the independent regulator for the accounting profession in Hong Kong and its name will change to Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC).
On 9 March 2022, the FRC launched its Engagement and Consultation Paper on further reform of the accounting profession (the Paper). The Paper provides explanation of its regulatory principles and approaches and aims to facilitate stakeholders to understand its rationale and solicit their views on how to ensure its proposed policies meet the expectations of the public through an effective disciplinary regime. The FRC invites interested parties and the public to share their views on or before 4 May.
To provide members with an in-depth understanding of the Paper, The Hong Kong Business Accountants Association and the Association of Hong Kong Accountants will organise a joint webinar. Details are as follows:

Mr TS Chan, Deputy Head of Investigation and Compliance, FRC
Mr TS Chan is the Deputy Head of the Investigation and Compliance Department of the FRC. He is a certified public accountant and has over 30 years of experience in auditing and financial reporting.
Ms Daisy Kwok, Deputy Head of Discipline, FRC
Ms Daisy Kwok is the Deputy Head of Discipline of the FRC. She specialises in regulatory litigation and has extensive experience in enforcement matters. Before joining the FRC, she set up the Enforcement Division of another regulator in Hong Kong.
